Unconscious Bias in the Manufacturing Workplace Online Course & Certificate

Everyone has unconscious or implicit biases.  Research shows that this is part of the way the human brain process information. However, if left unchecked, unconscious biases can lead to unfair or discriminatory behavior with negative consequences, including employee resignations and legal fees.

Unconscious bias training is one of the positive steps organizations can do to help individuals recognize and manage their own biases and create a more inclusive workplace.  HelpUExcel’s Unconscious Bias for the Manufacturing Workplace training is a 45-minute self-led online course. In this training, manufacturing employees will move from awareness to action, learning how to interrupt bias and leverage the full potential of diverse teams and colleagues in the workplace.  This training course includes real-world episodes, assessments, and interactive exercises that teach employees how to recognize and counter different types of workplace biases.

This course consists of 5 modules.  There is an opportunity to demonstrate understanding within each module.  Trainees who successfully complete the training course will be awarded with a certificate of completion.

There are two versions of this course.  All trainees will learn about their own biases and behavior.  In addition, supervisors will be provided with additional material to help detect and address bias in their team. 

Designed specifically for workers in manufacturing and shift supervisors, this training will help to enable employees to apply necessary skills to counter the negative impact of unconscious bias.  Training objectives include the following –

• Build awareness to understand what unconscious bias is and why it matters.
• Understand the impact of unconscious bias at work and the impact it has on your decision making.
• Develop skills to help you recognize and take action to manage bias.

In addition to the learning outcomes above, employees who take the supervisor’s version of the course will also receive the following:

• A goal-setting plan to work toward becoming an inclusive leader by managing personal unconscious bias.

This course is intended for non-exempt employees who work in a manufacturing setting, specifically –

 There will be a 21 multiple choice quiz. A 100% is considered to be a passing grade.
