Microsoft Project helps project managers, business managers and
planners manage schedules and resources. Effective use of Microsoft
Project® in Project Management is a course that teaches students how

Students will be assigned 6 homework assignments, and 1 final exam.

Introduction and
Overview of Project Management: Scheduling concept, Critical path
analysis. Assignment of bar chart introductory test on Microsoft
Project
Session 2:
Overview of MSP:
What is MSP?, Reading a schedule in MSP: Project Statistics, Auto
Filters and custom filters, “Viewing Work, Duration, Cost”, Task
Usage view- overview, Resource Usage view- overview, sample case
study and schedule reading assignment
Session 3:
Writing/developing project schedule in MSP: Flow of writing a
project schedule, Gantt view and formatting, Task dependency types
and significance, use of task entry view, Task types and
significance, Task constraints, Resource sheet details and
significance, Project & Resource Calendars, Resource Allocation
Session 4:
Concept of
Baseline, resource leveling, schedule development assignment
Session 5:
Tracking and
updating plan in MSP: Getting feedback from the resources-
Timesheets, different ways of updating the plan, “Tracking Gantt”
view, concept of “Progress Lines”, saving interim plans, Project
Tracking assignment
Session 6:
Printing from
MSP: Printing Gantt chart, customization- fields, filters, Reports
Customizing MSProject, Using Microsoft Project for multiple
projects. Evaluation/assessment
